Technical details

The tool uses the browser's File, Blob, Canvas, and download APIs. Processing is intentionally performed in the foreground so it works on ordinary shared hosting without queues or background workers.

DPI is used to calculate physical print size. Browser canvas export does not reliably write a custom density tag in every format, so the output pixel dimensions and reported print measurements are the reliable values.

Limitations and compatibility

Performance depends on available browser memory. Very large images or long PDFs may fail on mobile devices; close other tabs or process fewer pages. Animated images are flattened to the first decoded frame. Corrupted or encrypted files may be rejected.

Frequently asked questions

Does Change Image DPI upload my file?

No. The selected file is processed in this browser tab and is not transmitted to the website server.

What happens if my browser runs out of memory?

The tool stops and shows an error. Try a smaller file, fewer pages, a lower preview resolution, or a desktop browser with more available memory.
