Technical details

The tool uses the browser's File, Blob, Canvas, and download APIs, together with pinned local builds of PDF.js, pdf-lib, jsPDF, and JSZip where the operation requires them. Processing is intentionally performed in the foreground so it works on ordinary shared hosting without queues or background workers.

Pages are rendered to images and rebuilt into a new PDF. This is effective for scanned PDFs but may remove selectable text, links, forms, layers, and vector fidelity.

Limitations and compatibility

Performance depends on available browser memory. Very large images or long PDFs may fail on mobile devices; close other tabs or process fewer pages. Animated images are flattened to the first decoded frame. Corrupted or encrypted files may be rejected.

Frequently asked questions

Does Compress PDF upload my file?

No. The selected file is processed in this browser tab and is not transmitted to the website server.

What happens if my browser runs out of memory?

The tool stops and shows an error. Try a smaller file, fewer pages, a lower preview resolution, or a desktop browser with more available memory.
